We believe your personal reflections are exactly that — personal. Closer collects no data: no accounts, no servers, no analytics, no tracking.

What We Collect

Nothing. Closer has no accounts, no sign-up, and no servers.

Your journal — mood check-ins, intentions, wins, the people you mention, and any photo or video moments — is stored on your device. If iCloud is on, it syncs through your own private iCloud storage, encrypted and tied to your Apple ID.

We cannot read, access, or recover your journal. That’s not just a promise — it’s how Apple’s private iCloud is built.

• No account information. We don’t collect your email or name. The name you can enter during setup stays on your device, just to greet you.
• Your preferences (reminder times, appearance, app lock) stay on your device. Reminders are local notifications — nothing is sent to us.
• Backups you create are written to your own iCloud Drive.
• Apple Health (optional): if enabled, Closer saves your daily mood to Health and reads your sleep to show patterns — entirely on your device. Health data never leaves your iPhone.
• Voice and AI run on-device: dictation uses Apple’s on-device speech engine, and insights are generated by on-device Apple Intelligence. Your words are never sent to any server or AI service.
• Purchases are processed by Apple. We never see your payment details.
• No analytics, no tracking, no third-party SDKs. If you’ve opted in to sharing analytics with developers in iOS Settings, Apple may provide us anonymized crash reports and aggregate App Store statistics — collected by Apple under Apple’s privacy policy, never including anything you’ve written.

Data Storage & Security

Everything you write lives on your device and, if you enable sync, in your own private iCloud — encrypted and protected by your Apple ID. You can also turn on an optional Face ID or Touch ID lock for the app. Backups and exports you create are files under your own control.

Deleting Your Data

There’s no account to delete, because there are no accounts. You’re always in control:

• Delete everything: Settings → Delete Everything erases all journal data from your device and from your iCloud. Before it does, Closer offers to save a backup snapshot — restoring from a backup is always free.
• Edit or delete entries: Modify or remove any individual entry at any time.
• Data retention: We retain nothing, because we never had anything. Your data exists only on your devices and in your iCloud.

Third Parties

Apple is the only third party involved, purely as infrastructure: iCloud sync and backup, Apple Health, on-device speech and Apple Intelligence, and App Store payments. There are no data brokers, no ad networks, and no analytics vendors. Your data is never sold or shared — we don’t have it to sell.

Website Waitlist

If you joined the waitlist on this website, we store the email address you gave us and use it only to tell you about Closer’s launch. You can ask us to remove it at any time.

Children’s Privacy

Closer is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13 — or from anyone else.

Changes to This Policy

If we make significant changes to this policy, we’ll notify you through the app before the changes take effect.
